Local producers will shine in a specially curated menu for this year’s Mayor’s Ball, the gala event for the Taste Bundaberg Festival.
Developed by The Waves Head Chef Christiaan Loch, the menu presents a smorgasbord of local flavours for guests to savour the tastes of Bundaberg.
Christiaan said he and his talented team were proud to present a specially curated menu showcasing the rich flavours and exceptional quality of the Bundaberg Region’s finest local produce.
“We wanted the menu to be a true reflection of what makes Bundaberg special,” Christiaan said.
“This region offers an abundance of incredible produce and it’s a privilege to work with such high quality ingredients and support our local farmers and suppliers.”
With an unwavering commitment to fresh, locally sourced ingredients, Christiaan said the menu was designed to hero regional producers and the flavours of the Bundaberg Region community.
“The inspiration behind the menu stems from a passion for bringing people together through food that feels both elevated and familiar,” he said.
“The best part of working with local produce is not just the freshness, but knowing each ingredient’s story starts right here in our own backyard.”
Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said she welcomed the idea of demonstrating the breadth of the local agricultural industry across the menu.
“The Mayor’s Ball is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our local producers by putting Bundaberg on a plate,” she said.
“It’s what the Taste Bundaberg Festival is all about – championing our agricultural community and sharing what’s great about our region with locals and visitors.”
Mayor Blackburn said the Mayor’s Ball menu featured the names of local producers to highlight the region’s diverse suppliers.
“We don’t want to spoil the surprise by revealing the full menu yet but suffice to say foodies will be delighted by the delicious offerings.
“From the Red Shed and Grunske’s seafood to Stanbroke Station beef, Tina Berries strawberries to Simpson’s Farms avocados, the menu is packed with names known and loved throughout the Bundaberg Region.”
