Bundaberg Tourism is encouraging travellers to return to the region following recent flooding, with the majority of tourism experiences, accommodation providers and attractions across Bundaberg and the North Burnett now operating as normal.
While the Burnett River flooding has impacted some parts of the community, the region’s tourism sector remains largely unaffected and is ready to welcome visitors.
With the critical Easter holidays nearly here, Bundaberg Tourism is launching proactive destination messaging to ensure visitors understand that the region is safe, accessible and open for business.
Bundaberg Tourism CEO Katherine Reid said, “The message from the Bundaberg Region is simple: the region is open, accessible and ready to welcome visitors,” Ms Reid said.
“Tourism is a vital industry for the region and we know from past events that visitor demand can drop after natural disasters due to perception rather than actual impacts.
Ensuring travellers have clear and accurate information is critical to supporting local businesses and maintaining confidence in visiting the region.”
“Our tactical messaging will play a critical role in recovery following the natural disaster, helping the community recover by encouraging visitors to return and supporting the local economy.”
Bundaberg Tourism will work closely with Bundaberg Regional Council, tourism operators, media and travel partners to ensure clear, accurate information reaches travellers and to help restore confidence in visiting the region.
Visitors are encouraged to check directly with operators and accommodation providers for the latest information and to plan their next Bundaberg getaway.
