Bundaberg Regional Council has undertaken measures to limit mosquito numbers after the recent flood event.

Vector control has been undertaken by Bundaberg Regional Council to proactively limit mosquito numbers following the recent flood event.

Mosquito numbers can increase after severe weather events which leads to a greater risk of exposure to mosquito-borne diseases, according to Queensland Health advice.

Environmental Health Officers conducted larvicide activities on 12, 13 and 16 March in Bundaberg Central, Bundaberg East and Bundaberg North.

Barrier spraying has also been carried out in flood and rain affected areas where high mosquito activity was identified.
