Bundy’s Biggest Picnic to bring the fun

Josh Stedman and Ella Flor are excited for Bundy’s Biggest Picnic.

Grab a spot at the region’s longest picnic blanket for a Taste Bundaberg Festival event that brings the community together for food and fun.

Designed for connection, this oversized shared space invites friends, families or individuals to settle in for great vibes and new conversations.

Find out what the event host, Wide Bay Kids, had to say:

What inspired you to create this event for Taste Bundaberg Festival?

We wanted to create an affordable inclusive event that encouraged connection through a shared space and food.

What can guests expect when they attend? Any standout experiences or surprises?

One giant picnic blanket, approximately 260 sq metres!

Each picnic spot is approximately 2.5m x 2.1m.

There will be giant lawn games, board games, jigsaw puzzles, craft and card games.

Great food. Live entertainment by Abigail Williams, silent disco and of course good vibes!

Each booking will receive a custom gift from us celebrating our first picnic event.

Tell us about the food and drink on offer – what makes it special or uniquely Bundaberg?

Picnic goers are being encouraged to pack their own picnic with locally sourced ingredients or pre-order one of our platters.

Our platters will include wafer crackers, mixed olives, salami, brie and kabana.

Are you working with any local producers, chefs or artisans? Who are they and what do they bring to the table?

We are working with Boomerang Bags Bundaberg group who have sewn together our 260 sq m custom made picnic blanket.

What’s the story behind your venue or location – why did you choose it?

The event is taking place at Christsen Park, Bargara.

The location was chosen for the ocean view, large grassed open space and children’s playground.

Who is this event perfect for – families, foodies, adventurers, locals, visitors?

This event is perfect for families and friend/work groups.

What do you love most about being part of the Taste Bundaberg Festival?

We love creating experiences that are accessible and inclusive and want to ensure these types of events are included in all Bundaberg festival programs.

How do you think your event contributes to the region’s food and drink story?

By showcasing that a simple picnic, shared space and food can bring people together. Breaking down barriers and creating a sense of belonging.

What’s one thing you hope every guest walks away with after attending your event?

A sense of belonging and renewed connection to Bundaberg and the wider community.
