Bundaberg Nepalese Community celebrations are about to become even more vibrant after the group recently received a micro grant to help fund a new sound system.
Through the Bundaberg Regional Council Micro Grants Program, the group was successful in acquiring $2,000 to upgrade audio equipment for music, announcements, events and cultural performances.
General Secretary Milan Koirala said the funding was a great support and would play a vital role in helping the Bundaberg Nepalese Community continue to grow and celebrate its culture.
“The micro grant helps support cultural events, youth programs and newcomer assistance, ” Milan said.
“It helps preserve traditions, engage children in dance, music and language and allows the community to actively participate in local events like the Multicultural Fair, strengthening inclusion and connection in Bundaberg.
“This particular grant will be used to purchase a good and reliable sound system to conduct our annual programs and celebrations.”
Bundaberg Nepalese Community is a non-profit organisation established in 2015 and aims to support and unite Nepalese individuals and families.
“Our community actively celebrates major Nepalese festivals such as Dashain, Tihar and Teej, while also engaging in local events like the Multicultural Fair Bundaberg to promote cultural diversity and harmony,” Milan said.
“Dedicated to preserving Nepalese heritage, our organisation connects families and involves children in various cultural activities.
“These include teaching traditional dance, music and the Nepali language, fostering a strong sense of identity and pride in younger generations.
“The Bundaberg Nepalese Community also plays a vital role in welcoming newcomers to Australia, helping them settle, connect and feel at home through community support and inclusive activities.”
