In the Alexandra Park Zoo’s Volunteer Program, you have the opportunity to learn more about animals, contribute to conservation programs and help connect visitors with nature.

Volunteers range from high-school students to retirees and learn a range of skills while helping to care for the zoo animals.

What do volunteers at the Alexandra Park Zoo do?

  • Welcome visitors
  • Prepare food for the animals
  • Prepare and provide enrichment
  • Learn about and undertake animal care

  1. I am Bundy born and raised. Spent 4 seasons with Mon Repo turtle Rookery as a volunteer. Left Bundy moved to Cairns 1997. Worked as a wild life guide. Spot lighting and Day Tours in The Daintree and Atherton Tableland region for over 25 years, working with domestic and international school groups & Private Charters. We have just moved back to my home town and in the new year looking at some point for paid employment.
    Popped in this morning and met the Zoologist by chance.
