
Bundaberg Regional Council’s Be Active Be Alive program is back from Monday 30 March, bringing eight weeks of free fitness sessions to pools, parks and community venues across the region.
This year’s program includes a mix of favourite classes and new ways to move, stretch, strengthen and enjoy the outdoors – all fun, inclusive and suitable for all ages and abilities.
Council’s Community Liveability, Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Councillor Carmen McEneany said the program continues to offer a welcoming and accessible way for residents to stay active.
“This program is all about giving our community simple, enjoyable ways to stay active,” Cr McEneany said.
“Whether you’re trying something new or returning to a favourite class, there’s a place for everyone.”
Make a splash
The pools program will run for four weeks from 30 March to 1 May with classes in Norville and Gin Gin.
Residents can take part in Aqua Aerobics, a water‑based workout that uses the pool’s natural resistance to support strength, mobility and cardiovascular fitness.
Pool fitness classes are free however standard pool entry fees apply.
Move, explore and try something new
The parks, indoor and outdoor program runs from 1 April to 22 May, with sessions held across Bundaberg, Bargara, Moore Park Beach, Elliott Heads, Childers, Gin Gin and Woodgate.
Kite Surfing (introduction) returns after its debut last year, giving participants a fun, beginner‑friendly chance to fly a small trainer kite – the first step toward kitesurfing and other wind sports.
Canoeing takes you on a guided paddle through local waterways, offering a peaceful way to enjoy nature while building upper‑body strength and mindfulness.
BounceFit Table Tennis mixes table tennis skills with movement activities to improve coordination, agility and fitness – complete with bats, balls and even a robot pong machine.
Pickleball offers a social, easy‑to‑learn paddle sport that blends tennis, badminton and ping‑pong, perfect for beginners and great for all ages.
Line Dancing teaches simple, repeated step patterns in a friendly group setting – a fun way to move, learn and enjoy music.

Strength, energy and feel‑good fitness
Uplift – Strength Training helps you feel stronger and more confident with supportive strength exercises using dumbbells, bands and Pilates balls.
Body Pump delivers a music‑driven strength workout using light weights and high reps for a full‑body burn that leaves you feeling energised.
Circuit gives you a balanced, all‑round workout by rotating through strength, resistance and cardio stations at a steady, achievable pace.
BoxFit boosts your fitness with boxing‑inspired drills, footwork and core work – a fun, high‑energy way to build strength and stamina.
Freestyle Dance brings simple choreography and upbeat music together for a fun, expressive session that gets you moving and smiling.
Mindful movement and mobility
Yoga offers calming, gentle movement and breathwork to improve balance, flexibility and posture in beautiful outdoor settings.
Qi Gong uses gentle, flowing movements and breathwork to help you relax, reset and support overall wellbeing.
Strength and Stretch combines simple strength exercises with stretching and mobility work to help you move better and feel more balanced.
Pilates strengthens your core, improves posture and builds stability through low‑impact, full‑body exercises suitable for all fitness levels.
“These free sessions make it easy for people of all ages and abilities to move, connect and enjoy our beautiful region – all in a fun, inclusive environment,” Cr McEneany said.
