Council will undertake a planned stack burn on a portion of the Gin Gin Environmental Reserve during the April school holidays.
Residents around the burn area are reminded to take the following precautions:
- Drive to road conditions and observe all warning signs
- If smoke is present and you have asthma or other breathing difficulties, reduce outdoor activities or leave the area during this time if possible
- Keep doors and windows closed to prevent smoke entering homes and businesses
- Keep outdoor furniture and other items under cover to prevent ember damage
- Remove washing from clothes lines
- Retract pool covers to prevent ember damage
- Ensure pets and livestock have a safe area if required during the burn
- Sightseers must keep away from the burn area for their own safety and follow all directions from Rural Fire Service Queensland and Council staff. This includes in the days following the burn to allow for the fire to be fully extinguished.
