Bundaberg Regional Council has appointed HEH Civil as Principal Contractor to undertake construction works at the Branyan Street and Crofton Street intersection in Bundaberg West.

The existing intersection is a staggered four-way, priority-controlled intersection, with Branyan Street having priority.

The project will deliver construction of a roundabout raised pedestrian zebra crossings and new street lighting to improve intersection safety and awareness. Refer overleaf for layout plan for reference.

Night works for temporary closure

As part of the next stage of construction, temporary night-time road closures will be required at the Branyan Street / Crofton Street intersection.

Closure period:
Sunday 21 June 2026 to Thursday 25 June 2026

Closure times:
6 pm to approximately 5 am each night, with traffic control setup from 5.30 pm.

During these hours, the intersection will be closed to through traffic to allow construction activities to be completed safely and efficiently.

Traffic Detours

Suitable detours will be in place for all road users during the closure period.

Northbound Traffic Detour
Electra Street → Mulgrave Street → Woondooma Street → Branyan Street

Southbound Traffic Detour
Woondooma Street → Bingera Street → Electra Street → Branyan Street

Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time, follow all traffic control signage, and exercise caution when travelling through the area.

Property and business Access

Access to adjacent businesses and private properties will be maintained throughout the construction period wherever possible. Residents, business owners, employees, customers, and visitors may experience temporary changes to traffic conditions, increased construction activity, and minor delays while works are underway.

HEH Civil and Bundaberg Regional Council will make every effort to minimise disruption and complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
