Free aquatic classes expand to five local pools

Be Active Be Alive will bring five weeks of free aquatic classes to five pools across the Bundaberg Region.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s free Be Active Be Alive program is about to make a bigger splash with aquatic classes expanding to more pools across the region.

Since launching in September, locals have been diving into free aquatic sessions at the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre, making full-season pool classes possible for the first time.

From late October, four additional pools will join the program, bringing fun, low-impact exercise opportunities to even more communities.

Classes will be available at:

  • Bundaberg Aquatic Centre, Bundaberg
  • Kepnock SHS Pool, Bundaberg
  • Norville Park Pool, Bundaberg
  • Isis War Memorial Pool, Childers
  • Gin Gin Swimming Pool, Gin Gin

Rose Fraser of Aquafun & Fitness has been part of the Be Active Be Alive program since 2012.

Rose will teach Pool-ates (think Pilates in the pool!) at 6.15 am on Thursday mornings at Kepnock State High School Pool.

“Pool-ates has slow core-strengthening moves as well as the usual aqua exercises,” Rose said.

“Everyone can do the classes because different levels are given for the different moves.”

Rose said those who were nervous about getting started would be welcomed by the friendly and supportive class environment.

“I love the Be Active Be Alive program because people get into the habit of coming to the pool and being active.

“It’s a good program so come and give it a go and hopefully you’ll love it.”

Aquafun & Fitness also delivers Aqua Aerobics, Deep Water Aqua Aerobics and High Intensity Aqua classes at Kepnock State High School Pool throughout the week.
