With over 130 performances across 33 different sections, the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre once again welcomed talented young artists to the stage for the 2026 Bundaberg Eisteddfod.
The popular annual arts festival showcased solo and ensemble performances in vocal, instrumental, speech and drama categories.
The ensemble program from 27 to 29 July saw 1,608 people through the Moncrieff’s doors, with the entertainment centre also hosting the closing Gala Evening on 30 July.
Schools from across the region took part in the event which focused on building confidence, honing performance skills and creating community connection.
Bundaberg Christian College Instrumental Music Coordinator Nikki Udal said the Eisteddfod was a wonderful opportunity to showcase musical talent.
“Being able to play for each other and in a venue like the Moncrieff is a special opportunity,” Nikki said.
“Results fade but the experience of playing on a big stage will remain with students for many years to come.”
Gin Gin State School Principal Adam Fritz said the event was a great way to nurture young performers.
“The Bundaberg Eisteddfod is a wonderful experience for all children across the district, irrespective of where they are on their musical journey, to come together and perform music individually or as a group,” Adam said.
“It gives them an opportunity to perform and develop confidence in a safe, supportive environment.”
President of the Bundaberg Eisteddfod Committee Jessica Savage said the annual event was much more than a competition.
“The Eisteddfod isn’t just about winning a trophy; it’s about building confidence and resilience, learning to collaborate and be a part of what hopefully will be a lasting, positive memory for so many,” Jessica said.
“As a teacher, I see the hours of practice.
“As a performer, I understand the courage it takes to walk onto a stage.
“As President of the Bundaberg Eisteddfod, I see something even bigger!
“It’s an event that gives young musicians and actors the chance to be heard and to discover what they’re capable of.”
