Community members are invited to take their place in history this September as SSS Strawberries prepares to bring thousands of people together for Australia’s Biggest Strawberry Pick’n Day and two official Guinness World Records™ title attempts.
On Saturday 19 September 2026, the fields of SSS Strawberries at Oakwood, Bundaberg will become the stage for an extraordinary national moment.
The ambitious challenge will see the SSS Strawberries farm transformed into the centre of a celebration for the attempt of the Guinness World Records™ title for the most people picking strawberries simultaneously at a single venue.
The day will also feature a second official attempt for the most strawberries eaten in one minute by an individual, with a $10,000 prize on offer.
SSS Strawberries co-owner Gina Dang said the vision was about much more than breaking records.
“Imagine looking across a strawberry field and seeing thousands of people — children, parents, grandparents, farmers, businesses, schools and community groups, clubs – all standing together,” she said.
“One countdown. One moment. Thousands of hands reaching down together.
“That is the picture we want to create.”
The event comes as SSS Strawberries celebrates 25 years, creating an opportunity to recognise not only the family’s journey but the farmers, community and region that have supported it.
For Gina and co-owner Toan Nguyen, the most important difference is that people will not simply watch history being made.
They will be part of it.
“Every ticket puts you in the field as a History Maker,” Toan said.
“You’ll pick alongside thousands of other people – and the strawberries you pick are yours to take home,” he said.
“Families won’t just leave with strawberries. They’ll leave with a story: ‘I was there. I picked history.”
Mayor Helen Blackburn said the event provided an opportunity to showcase the region’s agricultural heritage, tourism and community spirit on a world stage.
“We are Australia’s home of world-class produce, and now we have the opportunity to demonstrate that on a world stage,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“Events like this showcase our local industries, celebrate our farming families and remind people across Australia and around the world, that Bundaberg is a region prepared to think big.
“To host official Guinness World Records™ Attempts right here in Bundaberg is an incredible honour and a fantastic opportunity for our region.”
Mayor Blackburn said the event would further strengthen Bundaberg’s reputation as an agricultural and tourism destination.
“Putting Bundaberg on the map is important, but keeping Bundaberg on the map is even more important,” she said.
“Initiatives like this help us do exactly that. They showcase our local industries, support our tourism sector, celebrate our farming families and remind people across Australia and around the world that Bundaberg is a region that’s prepared to think big.”
Gina said the invitation extended far beyond Bundaberg.
“It’s not every day you get the chance to be part of a world record,” she said.
“We invite families, businesses, schools, sporting clubs, community groups and visitors from across Australia standing with us in that field.
“Don’t stand to watch history. Come and make it.”
The official launch of the Australia’s Biggest Strawberry Pcick’n Day with Guinness World Records Challenge will take place at 8.30 am on Monday 24 August, when full details of the record attempts and how the community can participate will be announced.
