Wallaville Park is getting a major makeover, with a brand-new playground, multi-use sports court, shaded picnic areas and improved accessibility on the way.
The Bundaberg Regional Council upgrade will turn the park into a more welcoming and versatile space for local families, children and the wider Wallaville community to play, relax and get active.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said the refreshed park, located on Mill Street, would offer plenty of new ways for the community to enjoy the space.
“Wallaville Park is about to become a whole lot more fun, with something for everyone to enjoy,” she said.
“From a new playground and basketball half court and futsal goal to the shaded picnic areas and accessible facilities, this upgrade will create a fantastic space for families and the community to come together.”
Works will get underway on Tuesday 6 October with the existing playground equipment, shelter and table setting to be removed.
Once complete, the park will feature:
- A brand-new playground with a play unit, spinner and double swing.
- A multi-use sports court with a basketball half court and futsal goal.
- Two new shelters providing shady spots to sit and relax.
- New bench seating and accessible table settings.
- An accessible barbecue and drinking fountain.
- Concrete paths connecting the park entrance with the toilet facility, playground, barbecue and sports court.

The existing toilet facility will remain in place and, where possible, will remain accessible throughout the works.
For public safety, the park will be fenced off and closed during construction.
The park is expected to reopen again to the community on 20 November, pending weather.
“We know there will be a little disruption while the work is happening, but we’re looking forward to handing the park back to the community ahead of the Christmas holidays,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“It will be a fresh, modern space where people can come to play, exercise, enjoy a barbecue or simply catch up with family and friends.”
The project is also supporting local businesses, with Willplay undertaking the concrete and playground works while GX Outdoors will supply the new park amenities.
