The Gin Gin community kicked off Seniors Month in style with a free bus trip to Bundaberg to enjoy morning tea and a show at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.
Hosted by the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre and Moncrieff with sponsorship support from Bendigo Bank, the group made their first stop at the Bundaberg Pensioners League for a delicious morning tea before heading off to watch a live performance of What’s New Pussycat.
Gin Gin resident Bill Brown said he had really enjoyed the experience, especially hearing some of his favourite music from the sixties live on stage.
“I can’t get enough of trips like these,” Bill said.
“I haven’t watched live music in a while.
“It was good and I’m old enough to know the songs!”
Bill said he was looking forward to the rest of the celebrations throughout Seniors Month.
“We’ve got an expo at the Gin Gin Hub on 15 October where we’ll be playing cards,” he said.
“You’ve got to grab these opportunities.
“Seniors have done the hard yards so we need a bit of relaxation and more outings!”
Bendigo Bank Gin Gin Branch Chief Operating Officer Susan Bengston said they were happy to be involved in the initiative having been approached by the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre.
“As the local community bank, supporting events like this is why we exist,” Susan said.
“Seniors are the backbone of our community.
“We are honoured to be able to provide this support so we can show our appreciation for them as important members of our community.”
