Tackle World Bundaberg says the warm weather and relatively big tides has seen the shallow flats in the Elliott River thriving with life, with big flathead, queenfish, trevally, grunter and whiting caught.
The region has proven to be a popular training ground for young doctors, with 33 newly graduated medical interns launching their careers this year with Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS).
Bundaberg residents will get a flavour of Australia today, with the region combining generous helpings of its best food, music and activities as part of the family-friendly Great Australian Bites event.
The Bundaberg Region has become the second destination in Queensland and fifth in Australia to announce ECO Destination Certification from Ecotourism Australia.
