Australian star soprano Mirusia Louwerse is returning to Bundaberg with her latest show Mirusia Celebration.

Described as a spectacular celebration experience, Mirusia Celebration will come to the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre for one night only on 24 October from 7.30 pm.

Mirusia gave details on what local audiences could expect:

Can you tell us more about Mirusia Celebration?

Absolutely!

My new concert tour for 2025, Celebration is a heartfelt and uplifting concert that reflects on the highlights of my career and life so far.

2025 marks a milestone year for me, my 40th birthday, and with it comes a chance to celebrate the music, stories and people who’ve been part of my career together with my audience and fans.

From touring the world with André Rieu to releasing 12 albums, this concert brings together some of the most beloved songs I’ve performed over the years, some with a new twist, all joined together with interesting and sometimes revealing stories.

It’s not a traditional classical concert, it’s warm, funny, moving and full of surprises for all ages.

What can the Bundaberg audience expect from the show?

Audiences can expect a moving and fun, interactive experience.

It’s more like spending an evening together in the lounge room than a formal concert.

I perform a mix of classical favourites, contemporary pieces and some very personal songs that have shaped my life, plus there will be a few Bundaberg premieres of new music.

There are also a few segments where the audience gets to choose what I sing next and to be honest, it’s always the highlight!

Expect laughter, maybe a few tears but as usual with my concerts, a lot of heart.

I share stories from the road, from my family life and also love to hear from the audience too!

What are some of the highlights of your musical career?

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to perform at some of the biggest events in the world.

One standout was singing at the King and Queen of The Netherlands’ Coronation in Amsterdam in front of 90,000 people in the square, with millions more watching on television.

That was truly unforgettable.

But honestly, whether I’m singing to thousands in a stadium or a few hundred in a regional theatre, what matters most to me is the connection I feel with the audience.

Touring the world for over a decade with André Rieu was a dream, and I’ve also had the joy of performing in the middle of Outback Queensland, literally in the middle of nowhere, where hundreds of people showed up to share in the music.

I’ve been lucky to work with some incredible artists too, like Nana Mouskouri, José Carreras, Jermaine Jackson, Gheorghe Zamfir, Lou Bega and of course André.

What are you looking forward to about visiting the Bundaberg Region again?

I have such great memories of performing in Bundaberg in the past and it is such a great region to visit too.

The audiences are always so welcoming and warm.

I’m really looking forward to bringing Celebration to the Moncrieff, it’s a beautiful venue and the perfect place for this style of concert.

What makes it even more special is that the theatre is named after one of Australia’s most beloved opera singers, Gladys Moncrieff, who was actually born in Bundaberg.

As a fellow soprano, it’s a real honour to perform in a space that carries her legacy.

I like to think that this concert, which blends classical favourites and storytelling, helps keep the spirit of her music alive too.

If time allows, I always try to explore a little, enjoy the local cafes and restaurants and meet the lovely locals.

It’ll be a real treat for me, that’s for sure.
