Public notice – hazardous materials, Pyefinch Boulevard

0

Update 23 December 2025: Laboratory results have confirmed that from the limited number of cement pieces located, the samples taken contained asbestos material.

Exclusion fencing has been installed in impacted areas, at the rear (adjoining car park and Saltwater Creek) and front (FE Walker St/Pyefinch Bvld) of the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre site, to ensure public access is restricted in these areas.

Access into the aquatic centre is not impacted by these investigations.

Earlier: An area adjacent to the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre car park on Pyefinch Boulevard has been cordoned off and community members should stay clear of the fenced area.

The precaution has been taken as a public safety measure while testing and investigations take place following reports of materials which may contain asbestos in the area.

Access to the aquatic centre is not impacted by these investigations.
