Disaster resilience session to support community

Participants will learn practical steps to prepare for fire, flood and other natural disasters, where to find reliable information during an emergency and how to stay connected.

Bundaberg Regional Council will host its First Nations Disaster Resilience Session to support community preparedness and strengthen connections before, during and after severe weather events.

The session will focus on understanding the specific needs of First Nations individuals, families and communities during emergencies and how to better support one another in times of crisis.

Participants will learn practical steps to prepare for fire, flood and other natural disasters, where to find reliable information during an emergency and how to stay connected.

The session will also provide an opportunity for open discussion around planning and shared responsibility during disaster events.

The workshop is First Nations focused and open to Elders, First Nations individuals, families, businesses and organisations from across the Bundaberg Region.

  • When: Monday 16 February 2026
  • Time: 10 am to 11.30 am
  • Where: Bundaberg Recreational Precinct, Conference Room, 7 Kendalls Road, (access via Kendalls Road).
  • Morning tea will be provided.
  • Registrations are essential.
