Another successful Move it Expo crossed the finish line last month with the community gathering to learn more about the health and fitness options available across the region.
The annual event took place at the Bundaberg Multiplex with 48 stalls showcasing what the region has to offer including interactive displays and live demonstrations from local clubs, community groups and wellbeing providers.
Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said Council had received positive feedback from both stallholders and visitors at the event.
“We had a fantastic range of stalls and activities on offer at this year’s Move it Expo, with some familiar favourites and new options,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“Bundy Bowl and Leisure joined the event for the first time with their junior tenpin activity proving very popular with young visitors.
“There were also some new programs to the region including Mighty Mitts Boxing and the United Barbells Club.
“Of course Bundaberg Hockey’s inflatable field was a hit once again as well as the Burnett Bowls Club full-size indoor mat and the Bundaberg Table Tennis Association’s ball machine.”
Mayor Blackburn said the event had been complemented by a full weekend of sector-building activities for local sporting and community organisations.
“For the first time workshops and information sessions were also offered as part of the Move It Expo experience,” she said.
“A series of four workshops gave practical advice under the banner of creating Thriving Community Clubs and there was a joint State/Commonwealth and Local Government free Sports ON! information session highlighting grant opportunities available from all levels of government.
“Organisations also took the opportunity to sign the Domestic and Family Violence Free Matter to Me commitment which was another positive outcome from the event.”
