Local audiences won’t have to travel across the pond to enjoy over 20 classic hits from the Brits as The Great British Songbook comes to the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre.
For one night only and at just $30 a ticket, The Great British Songbook will see UK singer Craig Martin and his six-piece band pay tribute to iconic musicians like The Beatles, Queen, Oasis, Elton John, Rod Stewart and Cat Stevens.
Craig said he was excited to bring his new show to the region for the first time.
“This is my very first show in Bundaberg so I’m very excited to be visiting for the first time,” Craig said.
“The Great British Songbook is a tribute to some of the greatest and biggest selling British bands, singers and singer-songwriters of all time, from the 60s through to the 00s.”
Craig said it was a challenge to decide which songs to perform with so much fantastic music to choose from.
“I chose a lot of my favourite artists but it really is a mixed bag,” he said.
“We also made sure that all the songs we perform in the show were hits in Australia too.
“I always love performing up-tempo songs to get the audience buzzing but in this show I’m really enjoying performing the slower ones [where] I can see the audience hanging onto every word I sing, it’s very special.”
Audiences can sing along to popular hits including Waterloo Sunset, Hey Jude, Your Song, Angels, Living Doll, Brown Eyed Girl, Wonderwall, It’s not Unusual and You’ll Never Walk Alone.
“Every song we perform was a big hit back in the day and every sone has a different meaning and memory for everyone,” Craig said.
“Nostalgia is a lovely thing!”
