Residents in Burnett Heads, the CBD, Gin Gin and Kensington will soon benefit from improved stormwater infrastructure as Bundaberg Regional Council rolls out its annual maintenance program.
The works will focus on renewing existing stormwater pipes using modern relining techniques – minimising disruption while extending the life of critical underground assets.
The program follows a similar initiative being delivered for sewer relining, continuing Council’s investment in maintaining and strengthening essential infrastructure across the region.
Pipes selected for relining have been identified through previous CCTV inspection programs, ensuring priority areas are addressed based on damages, overall condition and need.
Due to the location of stormwater infrastructure, traffic management plans will be in place in some areas to ensure the safety of both workers and the community.

Roads and Infrastructure (urban) portfolio spokesperson Cr Larine Statham-Blair said the project represented a proactive approach to maintaining vital infrastructure.
“This program allows us to rehabilitate stormwater pipes without the need for major excavation, reducing disruption to residents while significantly improving the performance and lifespan of our drainage network,” she said.
“By targeting assets identified through detailed inspections, we’re ensuring our investment is focused where it’s needed most and helping to protect our communities from future drainage issues.”
Works will be undertaken from April to July, pending weather.
Council thanks residents and road users for their patience during this important upgrade, which will help support reliable stormwater management for years to come.

What about kerb and channel in Low and Crow street in Kensington. We have no stormwater pipes to rehabilitate in Kensington.
