Bundaberg Regional Council will conduct a smoke testing and inspection program of residential sewerage systems in Bargara on Wednesday 5 August 2026 between 10 am and 2 pm.
The testing process involves injecting a harmless smoke-like substance into Council sewers and sanitary house drainage pipework.
During testing, residents may notice smoke-like vapour coming from manhole covers, stormwater drains, roof vents, around building foundations or from the ground.
The program aims to identify defective plumbing and improper connections that allow rainwater to enter Council’s sewer network.
Rainwater infiltration can overload the sewer system during wet weather and contribute to overflows and odour issues.
As part of the program Council staff may need to access private properties to inspect external house drainage.
All Council staff involved in the inspection program will carry identification to produce upon request.
Council will provide notice to individual properties included in the inspection area before inspection works commence.

- Rosander Place
- Forestglen Court
- Woodglen Close
- Croft Street
- Clarke Street between Grimwood Street and Croft Street
- Whalley Street
- Grimwood Street
- Bauer Street between Grimwood Street and Davidson Street
- Birchdale Drive
- Jacques Court
