Get set for a taste of the Wild West as Queensland Theatre brings its only Wide Bay showing of the Calamity Jane story to the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre this October.
Loved for its fearless heroine, fast humour and larger‑than‑life spirit, Calamity Jane is one of theatre’s most loved frontier stories.
Bundaberg will be the closest place for audiences from Maryborough through to Gladstone to see the show live, with the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre selected as one of the major stops on the Queensland tour.
Queensland Theatre’s Calamity Jane drops audiences straight into the saloon with its bold, high‑energy staging.
The production features onstage saloon seating, placing some audience members right inside the action for an up‑close Wild West experience.
It’s immersive, lively and visually striking which makes it a standout drawcard for both theatre‑goers and first‑timers.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said hosting a Queensland Theatre production was a fantastic addition to Bundaberg’s arts calendar.
“Calamity Jane’s story has been loved for generations and this lively revival pulls audiences right into her world with humour, heart and Wild West swagger,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“It’s not every day a renowned Queensland Theatre production comes to Bundaberg and we’re very proud to be the closest place for regional audiences in the Wide Bay to see it live.
“We encourage locals and visitors to make a night of it and invite family and friends of all ages to experience this much‑loved story together,” she said.
