Alexandra Park Zoo will offer visitors a rare glimpse into the nocturnal world of its animals with the launch of a new night-time tour experience this October.
Inspired by the arrival of Tig the spotted-tailed quoll, the exclusive after-hours tours will take visitors on a guided journey through the zoo after sunset.
Guests will encounter a range of nocturnal species including dingoes, spotted-tailed quoll, snakes, frogs and wallabies.
Along the way, sound, music, scent and storytelling will bring the experience to life, revealing a side of the zoo rarely seen by the public.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said the new tours showcased a different side of one of the region’s most popular attractions.
“These tours offer a rare opportunity to explore Alexandra Park Zoo after dark and discover the fascinating animals that come alive at night,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“Tig’s arrival sparked the idea for an experience that shines a spotlight on our nocturnal residents and the important role they play in the natural world.
“With close-up wildlife encounters and immersive storytelling, it’s a unique way to connect with nature and experience the zoo from a completely different perspective.”
The first night-time tour will be held on Friday 16 October from 6.30 – 7.30 pm.
Numbers will be limited to 25 participants per tour.
Tickets go on sale at 10 am on Friday 2 October with visitors encouraged to book early to secure their place.
