A key Bundaberg thoroughfare is set for an upgrade, with Bundaberg Regional Council to begin asphalt resurfacing works along Burnett Street this month.
The works will take place across multiple stages from Monday 18 March for approximately two weeks.
• Stage 1 – Maryborough St to Barolin St
• Stage 2 – Barolin St to Targo St
• Stage 3 – Targo St to Water St
• Stage 4 – Water St to Hunter St
• Stage 5 – Hunter St to Pitt St
• Stage 6 – Pitt St to Boundary St
The project will be undertaken during daylight hours instead of night works after feedback from residents.
Roads and Infrastructure (urban) portfolio spokesperson Cr Larine Statham-Blair said council had listened to the community and adjusted the delivery to better meet expectations.
“Following concerns raised by residents during previous projects, we’ve made the decision to hold these works during daytime hours,” she said.
“We understand that roadworks can be disruptive, especially afterhours, and this change reflects our commitment to balancing essential infrastructure upgrades with community comfort.”
During the works, the road will be closed and detours will be in place.
Motorists are advised to expect minor delays and to follow all signage and traffic management directions.
This initiative is partly funded by the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.
