Lovers of Latin dance have more reasons to celebrate thanks to a series of events supported by Bundaberg Regional Council through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).
In 2025 Council approved a grant of $8,800 to help bring internationally acclaimed Latin artists to Bundaberg for workshops and performances.
Dance instructor and owner of Baylando Latin Fusion Hannah Reed has been running the program, which she said has been enthusiastically attended.
“All of these events have been extremely well received with all attendees immensely enjoying themselves,” Hannah said.
“It has ignited the fire of dance in many people!!
“We’ve had local participants that don’t usually join us, regular attendees and people travelling from Agnes, Gladstone and Hervey Bay.”
Hannah said the RADF grant she received was instrumental in realising her program of events throughout the year.
“The RADF funding has been extremely helpful as I would not have been able to bring some of the artists here without it.”
Following the success of Viva O Carnival, Freedom, Flow and Flavour with Jackson James Kubian and an end of year bachata celebration, Hannah’s next event will be held in July.
“I am excited to tell you that our next Roots and Resonance event is on 4 July with Gianne Abbott,” Hannah said.
“Gianne is a highly acclaimed Brazilian artist now living on the Sunshine Coast and is coming to share her knowledge and love of her culture.
“If you haven’t experienced how the roots of Brazilian dance culture resonates yet you are in for a treat.”
Roots and Resonance – Samba with Gianne is a 2 hour immersive workshop on Saturday 4 July from 9 to 11 am.
Community members interested in attending can find event details on Baylando Latin Fusion’s Facebook page, with tickets available on Humantix.
Regional Arts Development Fund
Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) supports delivery of Queensland’s Time to Shine, a 10-year strategy for arts and culture and its priority to strengthen Queenslanders’ access to enriching arts and cultural experiences.
“The Crisafulli Government’s multi-year RADF investment provides greater funding certainty for 59 regional councils, streamlined program management and red tape reduction, while boosting the state’s vibrant arts and cultural scene,” Minister Langbroek said.
“Each year, RADF programs reach more than one million people across Queensland, securing local arts experiences and cultural tourism opportunities in regional areas, as well as supporting local artists in the lead up to Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“For 34 years, Arts Queensland has partnered with regional councils to co-invest in local arts initiatives that generate jobs, community engagement and help boost local economies.
The Crisafulli Government will continue to support these vital collaborations.”
RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Bundaberg Regional Council to promote local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
