Opportunities for health, fitness and fun are abounding at the region’s pools with tens of thousands of residents taking a dip, headlined by attendance numbers at the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre.
Since its opening in December 2025 until 30 June 2026 the new aquatic centre saw 62,492 swimmers through the gates in just seven months.
The region’s three other Bundaberg Regional Council pools also had strong attendance during their swimming seasons, including:
- Norville Park Pool: 57,467
- Isis War Memorial Pool: 10,537
- Gin Gin Swimming Pool: 11,337
This brought the total number of swimming pool visits enjoyed by locals between July 2025 and June 2026 to a whopping 141,833.
Bundaberg Regional Council Community Liveability, Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr Carmen McEneany said there had been a huge jump in the number of people visiting the region’s pools with the addition of the aquatic centre.
“Our new state-of-the-art Bundaberg Aquatic Centre is undercover and heated making swimming throughout the cooler months not just possible but enjoyable,” Cr McEneany said.
“These strong numbers across all of our facilities demonstrate that the construction of the aquatic centre has achieved its goal of creating more opportunities for people to enjoy the health and wellbeing benefits of swimming.”
Of the Bundaberg Aquatic Centre attendance figures, 23,751 were swim school sessions with positive feedback received about the welcoming environment.
There was plenty more love for the aquatic centre through community feedback noting everything from the friendly staff to the quality of the facilities.
“Love the warm water so I can walk and exercise,” one customer said.
“Love the spa jets as my reward.”
The swimming season for Norville and Gin Gin Pools is between September and April each year and Isis War Memorial Pool was open July through to the end of May.
The pools are currently closed for the winter maintenance period and reopen:
- Isis War Memorial Pool: 3 August 2026
- Norville Park Pool: 1 September 2026
- Gin Gin Swimming Pool: 19 September 2026.
- The Bundaberg Aquatic Centre is open year-round.

They will be able to provide information about aqua aerobics classes at their facilities. They may also be able to guide you on what organisations offer assistance with transportation to and from their facilities.
So the new Aquatics centre is attracting 3x as many Swimmer so far and it hasn’t even been a full year yet at this rate it could be over 100,000 visitors for it’s first year a near 5x increase in visitors. It also shows that Norville pool remains quite popular it has fairly similar amount of customers to what it normally would. Norville pool remains a strong asset.
If this continues it should pay for it’s self quite rapidly and become a major asset that generates profit for the next 80 odd years after it has been payed for. With the growth of the town it could even be faster with more visits.
