Bundaberg Vintage Vehicle Club will be able to undertake necessary repairs to its club house roof with support from Bundaberg Regional Council.

Council has provided the club with a grant for $3,300 through its Community Services Program.

Bundaberg Vintage Vehicle Club member John Sweeney said the funds would be applied to the facility at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct.

“As the club owns the club house at the precinct, which was built some eight years ago, we are responsible for all maintenance of the building,” John said.

“This grant will help towards the total cost of repairing the roof of the building that has been leaking.”

The club plans to install a membrane coating to the roof to improve its performance during wet weather.

The majority of the club members are retirees, and the building is used for club meetings, social occasions and hosting other visiting motor clubs.

“The overall benefit is to our members to have a safe place to meet socially on Wednesday mornings and Friday afternoons,” John said.

“Also, our general monthly meeting is held the second Wednesday of the month at 7.30 pm.”

John said the club started around 50 years ago and currently has 240 members who are mostly from the Bundaberg area.

“Our club covers veteran, vintage and classic car lovers from the Bundaberg district,” he said.

“Most car runs start from the club house on either a Saturday or a Sunday.

“Our club runs the heritage Car Truck and Bike Show in May of each year.

“All gate takings go to local charities, and in 2026, Partners In Care received $8,000.”

Council’s Community Services Program provides grants of up to $5,000 to assist local community groups and organisations who make positive contributions to the quality of life in the Bundaberg Region.

Microgrants for assistance up to $2,000 are also available.

For the full range of financial assistance grants available to community groups and associations, see Council’s website.
