Residents and motorists should plan ahead with road closures and changes to bus services coming to Barolin Esplanade, Coral Cove, as important safety and improvement works get underway next week.
The works, starting Monday 9 November , will see a full road closure between Amronel Close, Innes Park and Jennifer Young Park, Coral Cove and will continue throughout November
The closure will also impact six Translink bus routes, with revised routes being arranged for the duration of the project.
The works will deliver pavement rehabilitation and widening, guardrail replacement, new bicycle fencing and refreshed line marking, signage, guideposts and raised reflective pavement markers.
Mayor Helen Blackburn said the upgrades were an important investment in the area’s road network and would help cater for the needs of the growing community.
“While there will be some short-term disruption, these works will deliver lasting benefits for the area, improving the road surface, widening sections of pavement and upgrading roadside safety infrastructure,” she said.
“It’s about making Barolin Esplanade safer and more accessible for everyone who uses it, and we thank the community for their patience while we get the job done.”
What residents need to know:
- Road closure: No vehicle access will be available between Amronel Close and Jennifer Young Park during construction.
- Bus services: Routes B620, B622, B678, B679, B681 and B682 will operate on revised routes. Translink will share updated information with affected residents and passengers should check before travelling.
- Alternative route: Motorists will need to follow the designated detour during the closure.
- Pedestrian access: Will be maintained where possible, although temporary restrictions may apply to ensure public safety.
- Waste collection: Services will continue as normal. Where property access is restricted, contractor LCB Civil will work with Bundaberg Regional Council to arrange an alternative bin collection point.
Construction hours will be 6.30 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday and 6.30 am to 4 pm on Saturdays, where required.
The works are expected to be completed by Saturday 28 November, weather and construction conditions permitting.
Bundaberg Regional Council thanks the community for its patience and understanding as these improvements get underway.
