Bundaberg Regional Council has approved a development application for an extension to Bargara Lakes Tavern.
Approved at the latest Ordinary Meeting, the development includes changes to the existing tavern building at 2 Bargara Lakes Drive, as well as the construction of a new liquor store on the southern portion of the site.
The tavern extension will involve the demolition of the existing drive-through bottle shop and the expansion of the building to the east and north.
The extension will provide 290 square metres of internal floor space, including a sports bar and amenities, along with 123 square metres of covered outdoor areas featuring two decks and a designated outdoor smoking area.
A new car park with 22 spaces will be established on the eastern side of the tavern, with a dedicated loading bay at the rear of the building.
The new liquor store will include customer parking, comprising 23 spaces in total, including two accessible parking spaces.
A separate loading bay will be provided on the western side of the building, alongside a landscaped buffer along the side property boundary.
To help mitigate potential noise impacts from the development, acoustic fencing up to two metres high will be installed along portions of the southern and eastern site boundaries.
The existing tavern’s operating hours will remain unchanged, from 10 am to midnight, seven days a week.
The new liquor store is approved to operate from 10 am to 9 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays, and from 10 am to 10 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
