Local Scouts have learnt the art of rope making from Childers blacksmith Lachie McConnell, making skipping ropes to raise funds at the Childers Festival.

After 23 years at The Friendlies Society Private Hospital, CEO Alan Cooper has announced his retirement, effective from July 2022.

From photos to hand-written accounts, Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg has uncovered a "treasure trove" of historic records just in time for its 75th anniversary and has invited the community to donate memorabilia to a display to mark the occasion.

Local tradespeople with skills more common in years gone by will showcase their talent as part of this month's Childers Festival, including blacksmith Lachie McConnel.

The community is invited aboard the Bundaberg Model Railway Club’s open day to check out miniature locomotives in action.
