Local and celebrity chefs will showcase their culinary skills at this year’s Taste Bundaberg Market cooking stage.

Taste Bundaberg Festival special guest chef Harry Butterfield will share his love of fresh seafood, demonstrating two recipes that celebrate the local catch.

Harry said he was looking forward to returning to the Taste Bundaberg Market’s cooking stage this year after first appearing at last year’s event.

“As a seafood lover and absolute foodie, getting the chance to cook and celebrate in my hometown, surrounded by some of the best produce in Australia, meant a lot,” he said.

“That was honestly one of the highlights of my year in 2024, but what I really loved was wandering around after my segment, chatting to people, and sampling all the amazing food, products and produce.

“Bundy has the best produce from the land to the sea, whether it’s a zucchini grown in the rich red soil, a prawn or muddie pulled from the Burnett, or something tasty and red pulled off one of the reefs a few miles off Neilson Park.”

Joining the cooking stage program this year are local presenters from Kadilly Coffee, The Food Prep Group and The Pocket Storehouse.

Bundaberg Regional Council’s Tourism, Airport, and Information Technology Services portfolio spokesperson Councillor Steve Cooper said market gave visitors a chance to support local producers.

“Taste Bundaberg Market is a great place for residents and visitors to fill their basket with delicious fresh produce and local wares,” he said.

“In addition to the cooking stage demonstrations, market goers can enjoy entertainment from local musicians, adding to the local flavour.”

Taste Bundaberg Market is on 7 am to 1pm, Saturday 6 September in Alexandra Park West, Quay Street, Bundaberg.
