IMPACT Community Services has secured a renewed five-year logistics contract with Container Exchange, the not-for-profit organisation that runs Containers for Change, continuing its role as the trusted provider of container collection services across the Bundaberg region.
The new contract, which commenced 1 November 2025, builds on IMPACT’s track record of delivering reliable and efficient logistics for the region’s Container Refund Points (CRPs).
IMPACT was selected through a competitive tender process, reinforcing its reputation for excellence in recycling operations and social enterprise delivery.
Recycling and Collections Manager Gavin Steele said the contract renewal reflected the strong partnership between IMPACT and Container Exchange, and the confidence placed in IMPACT’s experienced team.
“This contract is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our recycling and logistics teams,” Mr Steele said.
“We’re proud to continue supporting the Containers for Change scheme, which not only benefits the environment but also creates meaningful employment opportunities for people in our community.”
Each year, more than 45 million containers are collected across the Bundaberg Region.
As well as the logistics contract, IMPACT currently operates two CRPs; ABC Recycling in Bundaberg’s East and another at 78 University Drive, adjacent to the region’s Material Recovery Facility (MRF).
IMPACT also administers the region’s processing contract for the scheme.
This week’s announcement comes on the back of Bundaberg Regional Council’s decision to award a long-term contract to IMPACT to continue managing the region’s MRF for up to another 10 years.
The MRF processes around 6,000 tonnes of recyclables each year.
IMPACT’s Managing Director Tanya O’Shea said the organisation was committed to both environmental sustainability and inclusive employment.
“Our recycling operations are more than just waste management; they’re about creating impact,” Mrs O’Shea said.
“More than 60 people work across our recycling social enterprise, including 30 supported employees.
“At IMPACT, our vision is to improve lives. We work with others to create opportunities, and our recycling enterprise is a powerful example of this in action.”
IMPACT has partnered with Container Exchange since the scheme’s launch in 2018 and looks forward to continuing to work with local individuals, businesses, and organisations to build a cleaner, greener future for Bundaberg and beyond.
