Travelling through Norville will be smoother and safer after upgrades to roads, drainage and footpaths are completed.
The Bundaberg Regional Council project will deliver a two-metre wide shared pathway along Fitzgerald Street, connecting existing crossings near Eggmolesse Street and the Bundaberg Baptist Church.
On the western side, adjacent to the Bundaberg Cemetery, new kerb, channel and underground stormwater infrastructure will be installed to improve drainage and manage stormwater runoff.
Road users will also benefit from asphalt pavement renewal and new line marking between the Maynard Street and Eggmolesse Street roundabouts.
Roads and Infrastructure (urban) portfolio spokesperson Cr Larine Statham-Blair said it was great news for all who travel through the area.
“Norville is a busy little suburb surrounded by schools, popular facilities and more and this project will greatly enhance the safety and accessibility for all,” she said.
“By completing missing sections of pathway and upgrading road and drainage infrastructure, we’re aiming to create a more connected, accessible and resilient transport network for our community.”
Project timeline
Works will begin in December 2025 and are expected to be completed by early February 2026 (weather permitting).
Bundaberg Regional Council thanks residents and motorists for their patience and encourages everyone to follow signage and directions from traffic controllers for their safety.
This program is supported by funding through the Queensland Government’s Transport Infrastructure and Development Scheme (TIDS).
