Oceanfest lands fresh funding for 2026 event

There will be plenty of fresh flavours at 2026 Oceanfest event.

The organisers of popular seafood event Oceanfest have hooked funding support from Bundaberg Regional Council to boost its 2026 festival.

The $10,000 in funding will help meet operational and infrastructure costs for the one-day event which celebrates the region’s seafood industry while showcasing the best of local produce, entertainment and coastal lifestyle.

Oceanfest Bundaberg attracts around 10,000 attendees each year from across the region and beyond, delivering significant economic, tourism and community benefits.

Mayor Helen Blackburn said Council was proud to continue supporting an event that highlighted one of the region’s key industries while providing a unique experience for residents and visitors alike.

“Council is pleased to provide $10,000 in funding towards the 2026 event, helping organisers deliver another successful festival that showcases everything our region has to offer,” she said.

“Beyond the fantastic food and entertainment, Oceanfest also promotes education, environmental awareness, recreation, culture and tourism, making it an event with broad community appeal.

“Events like Oceanfest not only create memorable experiences for residents and visitors but they also provide valuable opportunities for local businesses and help strengthen our regional economy.”

Oceanfest coordinator Chris Foley said the funding was an important aspect to creating a successful event.

“The Rotary Club of Bundaberg Sunrise are grateful to Bundaberg Regional Council for their support towards Oceanfest, our club’s largest fundraising event,” Chris said.

“Oceanfest provides a great opportunity to showcase what our region has to offer while supporting local groups and organisations.”

Oceanfest 2026 will be held on Saturday 29 August at the Bundaberg Port Marina.
