The Bundaberg Region welcomed more than 1,000 visitors from across Australia over the weekend when the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) 39th National Rally rolled into the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct.

Underway this week, the eight-day event attracts more than 600 campervans and motorhomes, transforming the precinct into a vibrant hub of activity and bringing together RV travellers to celebrate community, travel and adventure.

Hosted at one of the region’s premier event venues, the rally features entertainment, seminars, activities, tours, trade exhibits and social events while showcasing the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct’s ability to accommodate major national gatherings.

Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said Council was proud to welcome the CMCA community to the region.

“We’re delighted to host the CMCA 39th National Rally at the Bundaberg Recreational Precinct and showcase everything our region has to offer,” Mayor Blackburn said.

“Events of this scale provide significant benefits for our community, supporting local businesses, attractions and tourism operators while demonstrating Bundaberg’s reputation as a welcoming and visitor-friendly destination.”

The Bundaberg Recreational Precinct has become one of the region’s most valued community spaces through Council’s ongoing investment, serving as a venue where people connect, celebrate and create lasting memories.

The precinct hosts a diverse range of events throughout the year, including the Bundaberg Show, Agrotrend, national dog shows, equestrian competitions, markets, community events and touring entertainment productions.

Mayor Blackburn said the rally highlighted the importance of quality community infrastructure.

“The Bundaberg Recreational Precinct is much more than a venue, it’s a place where communities come together, and we’re proud to see it continue attracting events that deliver social and economic benefits for our region,” she said.

CMCA CEO Richard Barwick said the rally always had the intention to return after visiting the Bundaberg Region in 2017.

“I can honestly say that I consider it one of the best in Australia for activities like ours,” Mr Barwick said.

“Events like these take 12 to 15 months to organise, [and] the caretaker at the grounds was brilliant to work with.”

“Club members have enjoyed many activities so far, including out of rally activities, some of our wonderful supporters like Bundaberg Rum have had a lot of visitation.

“The boost to local economy is enormous, as well as enquiry about new vans, housing and investment opportunities.”

Council is encouraging local operators to make the most of the opportunity, with visitors expected to explore local attractions, book tours, dine out, shop locally and visit nearby destinations during their stay.
