The festive season is in full swing in Childers with plenty of reasons for the community to gather and celebrate.
The big event not to be missed is the Community Christmas Luncheon at the Isis Club on 17 December.
Everyone is invited to come along wearing their festive best and enjoy a delicious lunch, along with a mini cent sale and prizes.
Tickets are $25 to be paid before the day so make sure to book your spot at the Childers Neighbourhood Centre before 12 December.
The final Early Years Playgroup and Christmas Party will take place on Friday 12 December as well as an intergenerational Christmas Karaoke event at Forestview Aged Care Support on Monday 15 December.
Early Years Playgroup will resume on Tuesday 27 January 2026.
A school holiday activity will see young children and their families to come together on Friday 19 December for a morning of cooking and craft at the Isis Cultural Centre where they can learn to bake delicious treats and make their own decorations.
Finally, those who would like to give back this Christmas are encouraged to nominate a family in need for a Community Christmas Hamper.
Each year the Childers Neighbourhood Centre works with the community to deliver Christmas Hampers to those who need a helping hand over the holidays.
Donations are received as part of the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal and everyone is welcome to nominate by downloading a form or collecting one from the Neighbourhood Centre.
Donations of non-perishable food items are being collected at Childers IGA, Childers State School, Bright Horizons Child Care Centre and Woolworths Childers.
Christmas closure: The Childers Neighbourhood Centre will close at 1 pm on Wednesday 24 December and will reopen at 8.30 am on Friday 2 January 2026.
