Beachgoers can now enjoy modern, refreshed facilities at Nielson Park with the completion of a major amenity block upgrade.
Located beside the surf club and next to the Nielson Park playground, the well-used facility has long served the community but was due for a refresh.
Bundaberg Regional Council Natural Areas and Environment portfolio spokesperson Cr Gary Kirk said the project delivered a much-needed improvement to one of the region’s most popular coastal parks.
“Nielson Park is a favourite spot for locals and visitors and the upgraded toilet block makes a real difference to how people can enjoy the area,” Cr Kirk said.
“After working through some unexpected structural issues, it’s great to see the facility open and ready for the community to use and I would like to thank the Bundaberg Surf Life Saving Club for providing support during this time.
“The new layout, accessibility features and durable finishes will serve beach users well for many years.”

The refurbishment includes new accessible toilets and showers, a redesigned layout shaped by community feedback, improved drainage and waterproofing and more energy and water-efficient fixtures.
Anti-vandal finishes, improved access paths, external beach showers and a fresh, modern look complete the facility.
Turf will be added to the perimeter of the facility after the festive period.
The Nielson Park Amenities Refurbishment Project has been supported by the Queensland Government through the Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Fund.
