Extension of trading hours for flood recovery

Trading hours flood
Businesses providing necessary goods to the community during the flood recovery process can extend their operating hours.

Local businesses necessary for the supply of goods can now extend their hours to ensure essential products are available to the Bundaberg community during flood recovery.

This follows Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie MP’s declaration that the Bundaberg rain and flood event is an ‘applicable event’ for purposes of the Planning Act 2016 and will be in place until 7 April 2026.

The declaration means that businesses like supermarkets, service stations, warehouses and transport depots can operate 24/7 to provide necessary goods to the community during the flood recovery process.

Businesses can also apply to change any operating conditions or restraints that may prevent them from operating during this period.

While key development assessment timeframes have also been extended, Council’s development assessment team is still committed to assessing these applications in a timely manner.

Declaration of Uses and Temporary Use Licences

Businesses can apply to the Chief Executive of the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning (DSDIP) to change operating conditions during the applicable event.

Extension of Development Assessment Periods

Key development assessment timeframes have been extended by 17 business days across the Bundaberg Regional Council LGA.
