Bundaberg Region open for business

From beautiful beaches and stunning coastlines to lush parks, playgrounds and more, the Bundaberg Region continues to offer a rich mix of experiences for all ages.

Bundaberg Regional Council is calling on visitors to explore, unwind and enjoy everything that makes the region a must-do destination these school holidays.

After the region experienced a flooding event in early March, the community is bouncing back and ready to welcome visitors with open arms.

From beautiful beaches and stunning coastlines to lush parks, playgrounds and more, the Bundaberg Region continues to offer a rich mix of experiences for all ages.

Mayor Helen Blackburn said the past few months had only strengthened the community’s resolve.

“We’ve certainly had our challenges with recent flooding but what stands out is the strength and resilience of our community,” she said.

“That spirit is something we’re incredibly proud of and it’s something visitors can feel when they come here.

“Our region is open, our businesses are ready to welcome you and there’s no better time to come and be part of that.”

The Easter school holidays provide the perfect opportunity for families to reconnect, explore the region and support local and the call for visitors is being echoed by Bundaberg Tourism.

Whether it’s heading off on a scenic hike, enjoying the coastline, or discovering local museums, galleries and theatres, there is no shortage of ways to experience the best of the Bundaberg Region.

CEO Katherine Reid said the organisation had launched proactive destination messaging to ensure visitors understood that the region was safe and accessible.

“The message from the Bundaberg Region is simple: the region is open, accessible and ready to welcome visitors,” Ms Reid said.

“Tourism is a vital industry for the region and we know from past events that visitor demand can drop after natural disasters due to perception rather than actual impacts.

“Our tactical messaging will play a critical role in recovery following the natural disaster, helping the community recover by encouraging visitors to return and supporting the local economy.”

Whether it’s heading off on a scenic hike, enjoying the coastline, or discovering local museums, galleries and theatres, there is no shortage of ways to experience the best of the Bundaberg Region.

Local businesses are also playing a key role in the region’s recovery, offering the same friendly service and hospitality visitors have come to know and love.

A new promotional video captures the essence of the region – offering a glimpse into what makes Bundaberg such a special place to discover.

Mayor Blackburn said the campaign was about reminding people that Bundaberg remained a vibrant, welcoming destination despite recent challenges.

“Bundy is beautiful and we’re open for business,” she said.

“Come and see for yourself.”
