In accordance with the requirements of the Chief Executive’s Notice dated 8 April 2026 given under section 18 (3) of the Planning Act 2016, Bundaberg Regional Council provides notice that a proposed amendment to the Bundaberg Regional Council Planning Scheme is available for public consultation.
The public consultation period for the proposed amendment commences Friday, 8 May 2026 and closes Monday, 8 June 2026.
The purpose and general effect of the proposed amendment is to change the zoning of Council owned land at Bundaberg Ring Road and Telegraph Road, Bundaberg East, from the Low density residential zone to the Open space zone.
The proposed amendment applies to the area of land identified in red in Figure 1 below which forms part of a historic subdivision (circa 1888) known and referred to as ‘Gympie Estate’.
The proposed rezoning reflects the land’s environmental characteristics and its intended inclusion within Baldwin Swamp Environmental Park.
The amendment includes changes to Schedule 2 – Mapping of the planning scheme to incorporate the zoning change.
The proposed amendment is available for inspection and purchase at Council’s Development Counter at Level 6, Auswide Building, 16-20 Barolin Street, Bundaberg Central, and is available for viewing and download on Council’s website at bundaberg.qld.gov.au.
Any person may make a written submission to Council about any aspect of the proposed amendment within the public consultation period.
In order for a submission to be properly made, it must:
- Be made in writing to Bundaberg Regional Council;
- State the name and address of each person making the submission;
- Include one postal or electronic address for service relating to the submission;
- Be signed by each person making the submission;
- State the grounds of the submission and the facts and circumstances relied on to support the grounds;
- Be received by Council no later than Monday, 8 June 2026.
