A free program of live music will warm the heart of Bundaberg CBD this June, with performances from popular local musicians to entertain lunchtime audiences.

The free concert series, Wednesday Winter Warmers, will be held weekly in the Pavilion on Bourbong Street, offering CBD shoppers a reason to stop and unwind.

The program is presented by Bundaberg Regional Council as part of its Safe Spaces, Thriving Places initiative to revitalise the Bundaberg CBD.

Performer Christie Jacobsen will perform with her husband Andy McLucas as acoustic duo OneWord and said she was looking forward bringing their mix of favourite hits and forgotten classics to CBD audiences.

“The Winter Warmers program is a great opportunity to support local performers while also enjoying everything the CBD has to offer,” Christie said.

“There’s such a variety of entertainment and talent involved, so there’ll genuinely be something for everyone.

“There’s something really lovely about music bringing life and energy into public spaces.

“We love seeing people out enjoying themselves, connecting with others and hopefully stopping for a singalong or a dance!”

Christie said she thought live music in the CBD would strengthen community connections.

“We think community-based programs are incredibly important because they showcase local talent while also helping create a stronger sense of connection and pride within the region,” she said.

“Live music has a way of bringing people together, and events like this encourage people to stay a little longer, explore local businesses and enjoy the atmosphere.”

Mayor Helen Blackburn said she hoped the program would encourage locals to enjoy their time in the CBD.

“Council’s Safe Spaces, Thriving Places initiative is all about promoting the Bundaberg CBD as a place for the community to shop, eat, connect and enjoy,” Mayor Blackburn said.

“The Wednesday Winter Warmers program is a great opportunity to bring your lunch and enjoy live music from some wonderfully talented local performers.

“The concerts will make Wednesday lunchtimes that much brighter and more joyful throughout June.”
