Fresh from a standout 2026 festival season, comedian Geraldine Hickey will visit Bundaberg for the first time with her latest show A Weight Off My Chest.
Tickets are now available for the performance at the Moncrieff Entertainment Centre on Saturday 5 September.
Known for her deadpan charm and observational wit, Geraldine has been a festival favourite for more than two decades as well as an on-screen regular in shows like I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, Spicks & Specks and Have you Been Paying Attention?
When asked what local audiences can expect from her show, Geraldine said they might be challenged by some of the content around her breast reduction surgery but in the end, everyone would feel like they’d had a weight lifted off their chest.
“It’s a shared experience,” Geraldine said.
“Sitting in a room with hundreds of people, some of them might be your friends or family, or everyone could be a stranger to you, but you are all there for this unique experience.
“No show is ever the same because every audience is different.
“I might say something that makes you and the person sitting behind you laugh more than anyone else and you might glance at each other because whatever it is that I’ve said has resonated with both of you and you immediately have a bond.
“You don’t get that scrolling or watching TV.
“Also, it’s one hour so there’s plenty of time to do whatever you want afterwards, including been tucked up in bed at a reasonable hour.”
Geraldine said she was excited to be visiting the region for the first time.
“It’s a real treat doing shows in communities like Bundaberg,” she said.
“There are bigger laughs, there’s a big dose of love in the room because we all know and appreciate that the opportunity doesn’t come up as often as we’d like.
“It will be my first time and besides sampling the delicious beverages you have on offer I’m keen to check out the local wildlife on some nice big walks.”
