With more than forty years in the industry, Corporate AV is one of several local businesses working hard behind the scenes to create the magic of the Mayor’s Charity Ball.
The fundraising event will take place on Saturday 11 July and feature the skill and expertise of local businesses from production, installations and décor to roving entertainment and catering.
Corporate AV owner Mal Brown said he was excited to be involved in the event again this year and use his years of experience to bring the theme to life.
“We’re a production company so we specialise in sound and lighting, staging and theming – creating an atmosphere,” Mal said.
“We are given the theme with photos and inspiration and the scope of what needs to be achieved and then we deliver on that.
“I don’t want to give too much away but this year’s theme is quite bold and I think people will be gobsmacked when they walk through it.
“They’ll enjoy the surprise of it and it will be changing so we’ll keep delivering at different points throughout the evening.”
Mal works with a small team of local staff and said he was excited to also work alongside the other Bundaberg businesses involved in the event.
“We all seem to complement each other which is very nice,” Mal said.
“My team are very creative and willing to push, if you don’t have passion for what you do then you might as well give up and go home.
“I think Bundaberg businesses are underrated and people think we can’t deliver what you would see in the big cities but I’ve travelled all over the country and we come up with amazing things.”
Catering Manager for The Waves Group David Frost said the Mayor’s Charity Ball was a wonderful example of what can be achieved when local businesses, community organisations and volunteers come together.
“Supporting our community is at the heart of everything we do, so being involved in an event that not only showcases the Bundaberg Region but also raises funds for local families is incredibly meaningful,” David said.
“By engaging local businesses, the event not only delivers an authentic Bundaberg experience but also helps strengthen our local economy by supporting jobs and encouraging collaboration within the community.
“It takes an enormous amount of planning and we’re proud to be part of an event that reflects the generosity and community spirit of Bundaberg,” he said.
Delivering the event’s styling and décor, Cassandra Egan from Elegant Events said knowing their work contributed to an evening that raised much-needed funds for the Mayor’s Christmas Appeal made it especially rewarding.
“Events like the Mayor’s Charity Ball showcase the incredible talent and capability we have here in Bundaberg while ensuring the economic benefits of hosting major events stay within the region,” Cassandra said.
“Every detail has been carefully considered to create a sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere that complements the importance of the occasion.
“It’s a privilege to be trusted with an event of this significance.”
