Taste returns to celebrate region’s food bowl

Spanning two full weekends from Friday 4 September to Sunday 13 September, the festival will feature a diverse program of events that celebrate the people, produce and places that make the region one of Australia’s premier food destinations.

The best of Bundaberg’s local flavours, fresh produce and culinary experiences, including a new seaside event, will take centre stage when the 2026 Taste Bundaberg Festival returns.

Spanning two full weekends from Friday 4 September to Sunday 13 September, the festival will feature a diverse program of events that celebrate the people, produce and places that make the region one of Australia’s premier food destinations.

Mayor Helen Blackburn said the festival had become a highlight on the region’s event calendar, bringing together locals and visitors to experience the very best the Bundaberg food bowl had to offer.

“Taste Bundaberg Festival is a celebration of everything that makes our region special – from the incredible growers and producers who supply fresh, world-class produce to the talented chefs, hospitality businesses and event organisers who transform those ingredients into unforgettable experiences,” she said.

“The festival not only showcases our outstanding local food and drink but also supports local businesses, encourages visitors to explore our region and highlights Bundaberg as one of Queensland’s premier culinary destinations.”

The best of Bundaberg’s local flavours, fresh produce and culinary experiences, including a new seaside event, will take centre stage when the 2026 Taste Bundaberg Festival returns.

This year’s program features an exciting mix of returning favourites and new experiences.

From hands-on cooking classes and family-friendly events to long lunches, gala dinners and unique dining celebrations, there is something for every taste and every age.

One of the major highlights for 2026 is Flavours by the Foreshore, a brand-new , free community event hosted by Bundaberg Regional Council at the picturesque Elliott Heads foreshore on Father’s Day.

Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic rug and relax by the ocean or pre-order a grazing platter from local favourites while enjoying live music.

The iconic Agrotrend event is once again a part of the Taste program and this year will include a Farmer’s Market featuring fresh produce, farm gate products, homemade goods, plants, flowers, preserves, artisan food and handmade products.

Strawberries and symphony to delight

Festival favourite Symphony in the Strawberry Fields will also return, with Bargara Berries inviting visitors to enjoy a memorable dining experience among the strawberry fields.

Set within the open spaces of the farm, this unique outdoor concert encourages attendees to slow down and savour the moment.

Owners Debbie and Michael Meiers said the 2026 program would have plenty on offer for strawberry lovers.

“This year we are joining the Bundaberg Voice Collective and the Bundaberg Symphony Orchestra in a concert at the strawberry farm,” Debbie said.

“The event with the Bundaberg Symphony Orchestra last year was very well supported.

“We will also have the Pick your own Strawberry fields open every day – families love this experience!

“For the Dessert Trail we will also be serving pancakes with house made strawberry coulis,  fresh strawberries and handcrafted real fruit gelato from our newly opened Strawberry Kiss Cafe.
