Dog registration renewals will soon hit inboxes and mailboxes of Bundaberg Region dog owners, helping to fund essential animal management services.
The new registration period is for 12 months from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 with renewal notices scheduled to drop into letterboxes 31 July 2026.
Registering dogs helps Council reunite lost pets with their owners, respond to animal-related enquiries and maintain accurate records across the region. Council encourages
dog owners to review their registration details before renewing to ensure their contact information, ownership details and microchip records are current.
Council reminds residents to follow some simple steps to being a responsible dog owner:
- Register and desex your dog at an early age
- Identify your dog with a collar, registration tag and microchip
- Keep your dog contained on your property
- Provide a balanced diet and clean, fresh water at all times
- Choose a breed of dog that suits your home and lifestyle
- Socialise your dog as a young puppy
- Exercise your dog regularly
- Clean up after your dog in public areas
- Control your dog if they bark
- Keep your dog healthy by ensuring their vaccinations are up to date
Residents are also encouraged to notify Council if their circumstances have changed since their last renewal, including a change of address or contact details, the addition
of a new puppy, updated microchip information or the passing of a registered dog.
Payment of registration renewals for the coming registration year is due by 31 August 2026.
