The Queensland Government’s draft Wide Bay Burnett Regional Plan and Infrastructure Plan 2026 is here and now open for public feedback.
The Wide Bay Burnett region is expected to welcome tens of thousands more residents over the next 20 years, requiring up to 48,945 new homes to support our population.
To guide this future growth, the Queensland Government has developed the draft Wide Bay Burnett Regional Plan and Infrastructure Plan 2026.
The draft plan proposes a strategic plan for the region, guided by a long-term vision, to support the region’s prosperity and growth.
It sets out the 20-year vision and strategic direction for the region across five key themes: housing, thriving economy, ecotourism and biodiversity, healthy and liveable communities and infrastructure.
Community members are invited to have their say on the draft plan during the public consultation period from Friday 31 July to Monday 14 September 2026.
The Queensland Government will be hosting talk-to-a-planner sessions both online and in-person across the region.
There will be an in-person session at Bundaberg School of Arts on Tuesday 18 August from 9 am to 12 noon.
Registration is not required to attend the in-person event and as there are no speakers or presentations at these sessions, attendees don’t need to arrive at the start of the session time.
