Bundaberg Regional Council has appointed LCB Civil Pty Ltd as the Principal Contractor to undertake the Poinciana Drive Stage 1 Upgrade, from approximately Grevillea Avenue to the Back Windermere Road intersection.
Works are scheduled to commence on the 21 September, with completion expected by June 2027, weather and construction conditions permitting.
What’s happening?
The project will upgrade Poinciana Drive to improve road condition, safety and long-term capacity.
Works will include:
- Pavement rehabilitation and widening to approximately 9.3 metres
- New line marking, signage, guideposts and RRPMs
- Removal of vegetation hazards
- Water main extensions
- Stormwater upgrades
- Road lighting improvements
Construction stages
These works will be completed in three sections:
- Section 1 – Grevlliea Avenue to approximately No. 76 Poinciana Drive
- Section 2 – No. 76 Poinciana Drive to Orlabah Avenue
- Section 3 – Orlabah Avenue to Back Windermere Road

Road closure and access
A full road closure will be in place between Grevillea Avenue and Back Windermere Road during the construction works.
Local resident access will be maintained wherever it is safe and practical.
Access arrangements will change as the work progresses, and affected residents will be notified by LCB Civil.
Residents should expect temporary construction impacts including increased construction traffic, noise, dust, delays
and short-term changes to property access.
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday 6.30 am to 6 pm
- Saturday 6.30 am to 4 pm, where permitted.
Waste collection
Waste collection services will continue during the works.
Where property access is temporarily restricted, LCB Civil will coordinate with Council and assist with moving bins to an agreed collection point.
Bus services
The road closure will affect Translink routes 608, 652, 654, 656, 659, 680 and 682.
Translink is arranging revised bus routes for the duration of the works.
The Orlabah Avenue bus stop will be temporarily closed, with a temporary bus stop to be established on Kathleen Drive at Pacific Gardens Park, approximately 50 metres east of Orlabah Avenue.
Residents are encouraged to check Translink information before travelling once the changes are implemented.
