Registrations are now open for employers and local business owners to exhibit at this year’s Bundaberg Careers Expo.
The free event connects jobseekers, career-changers and students with prospective employers, career advisors and training organisations.
This year’s expo will be held on Wednesday 13 May at Bundaberg Multiplex Sport and Convention Centre, featuring up to 80 stallholders.
Bundaberg Region Mayor Helen Blackburn said the annual event attracted thousands of attendees including students and community members.
“The Bundaberg Careers Expo is a key opportunity for employers and businesses to connect with the future workforce,” Mayor Blackburn said.
“Over 2,000 secondary school students are expected to attend from 11 regional schools, eager to learn more about their chosen career path.
“If you are looking to grow your business or encourage young people to join your industry, Bundaberg Careers Expo is a great place to build that network.”
Expo attendees also included current jobseekers and people looking to change careers or gain further qualifications.
Mayor Blackburn said Council was actively seeking to support employment pathways through the Bundaberg Region Economic Development Strategy and the Bundaberg Jobs Commitment program.
“We know the Bundaberg Region needs employment and training to support the rapid growth we are experiencing,” she said.
“Key industries like agriculture, health and construction face significant workforce shortages and skills gaps.
“Hosting events like the Careers Expo shows residents there are exciting careers and high-quality educational opportunities available close to home.”
2026 Bundaberg Careers Expo will be held on Wednesday 13 May at Bundaberg Multiplex Sport and Convention Centre from 9 am to 3 pm.
Interested exhibitors have until 29 April to register, unless all spots are filled before then.
Powered sites are available for $40, unpowered sites are free.
The 2026 Bundaberg Careers Expo is an annual event hosted by Bundaberg Regional Council in partnership with Queensland Department of Education Link and Launch, Workforce Australia and Jobs Bundaberg, a Regional Jobs Committee.

What careers most businesses are holodeck simulation they run with the same staff everytime it’s very difficult for you to get into a established business to work. Even if the staff are bad or not lawful. The only hope they have is if we open new businesses to meet demand for workers. Worse still if the public service is being fired as that is the main thing that spikes unemployment worse then COVID & Flooding.
No you need to be honest with them. The unemployment is rising again because growth in health care has stalled. The main growth now is in construction because of housing shortages & some new businesses being built.
If you cannot work in construction I suggest leaving. Go to the South East Corner where the opportunities are. Go to Brisbane to take advantage of the Olympics preparation & growth, go to the mines to help with the mining boom, Join the armed forces. Do not stay here where the only real hope long term is in aged care.
The best thing to do is to get them not to vote for the LNP ever again. It is the LNP that sacks the public service. The ALP hires more public service. Keith Pitts mob got huge amounts of public service fired & Campbell Newman got even more fired leading to the worst unemployment in the history of the region. Keith Pitt then launched the cashless welfare card & blamed the people his party sacked for high unemployment. Forcing there childreen onto a card instead of getting them new jobs to replace the ones they took.
Remember this we had pretty good unemployment in 2010 – 2013 even with the GFC & Flooding. Then we swaped to having the LNP in at both federal & state.
The influx of new residents should lead to new businesses being started like never before as well. Many of them will want to start a new businesses. We have quite alot of new businesses in the Kensington area that would benefit from the trades training center that the TAFE now offers.
Perhaps if you got rid of the notion that we are just a farming town with a huge proportion of it’s population that dose not rely on farming for work you might be onto something. Farming isn’t even the main employer in Bundaberg & has not been for quite sometime.
Bundaberg regional GDP should be around $20 billion not $6 billion
Fraser Coast is in a similarly poor situation but more reliant on Tourism. Similar $6billion GDP economic value as well.

Getting manufacturing & trades properly going is paramount to help Bundaberg & Maryborough reach there full extend. Industrial park should help significantly. The new hospital precinct, Enhanced shopping malls & new motels would also go along way to help.
Bundaberg unemployment rate has actually stated dropping again latest figures 4.7% looks like we are improving for the long term? 1 more drop like that & we could be back to record lows again. https://economy.id.com.au/bundaberg/unemployment
We just have to have some faith I think that we can make this a permanent improvement in the unemployment rate.
I believe the key to a full revive is the CBD rework & Cultural prescient. If you filled all those vacant shops in the arcades & laneways in our CBD back to what they were like the pre GFC era this would help boost employment even more so we could be sitting on 3% unemployment possible without even knowing it.
I saw a document a while ago it looked like Jack Dempsey was working on a new Industrial precinct this could be helpful. It might be a good idea to contact him & see what else he was working on.
Personally I think they are better off staying in Bundaberg. Bundaberg remains cheaper then the South East Corner. This translates into being able to save a deposit for a home faster, reduced homeloan repayments, the ability to be able to start a family & not struggle trying to repay a much larger homeloan.
Bundaberg has great expansion plans it’s time we backed ourselves. The era of escaping to the south east is over. There now escaping to our region instead. You may as well stay here. If we try we can keep improving. The expanding population will continue to provide more deamnd and with it more opportunities.
