Showcase to connect organisations with volunteers

The upcoming Volunteer Showcase gives local organisations a chance to connect with residents interested in volunteering.

Local organisations looking to grow their volunteer team are invited to apply for a free stall at the upcoming Volunteering Showcase.

Coordinated by Bundaberg Regional Council and the Bundaberg Neighbourhood Centre, the event will bring together community groups, charities, clubs and service organisations.

The groups will showcase their work and highlight the many ways people can get involved through volunteering.

Bundaberg Regional Council Community Resilience and Connection portfolio spokesperson Councillor Tracey McPhee said the showcase was an important opportunity for organisations to reach new volunteers.

“Volunteers are the backbone of so many local organisations and we know many groups are feeling the pressure of trying to attract and retain the people they need,” Cr McPhee said.

“This event gives organisations a dedicated space to share their story, highlight the impact they make and connect with residents who genuinely want to get involved.”

Cr McPhee said the event also reflected the changing landscape of volunteering.

“People are looking for roles that fit their lifestyle – whether that’s traditional volunteering, flexible micro‑volunteering, virtual opportunities, skill‑based roles or short‑term projects,” she said.

“By taking part, organisations can tap into a wider pool of potential volunteers and find the right match for their needs.”

Built from community feedback and local insights

The Volunteering Showcase was developed in response to feedback from community forums and networks, where organisations raised challenges around volunteer recruitment and retention.

The Bundaberg Steering Group, made up of volunteer‑seeking organisations, Bundaberg Regional Council and the Bundaberg Neighbourhood Centre, has shaped the event to help address these issues locally.

Organisations interested in showcasing a stall are invited to submit an expression of interest here.

Submissions will close on Wednesday 13 May at 5 pm.
